Terms
Last updated 30 October 2026.
The plain version of what you agree to when you reserve a car. These terms cover your booking. The rental itself is governed by the rental agreement you sign on collection, and we explain it before you sign. What we promise on this website is part of your booking.
Who you are dealing with
Drivorentals is a brand of NovaDrive Service Centre Ltd, an intermediary booking platform. Company number C 116377, VAT MT32937930, 60, Triq Ħal Qormi, Marsa, Malta.
Booking and payment
Reserving online is free. You pay the total shown when you collect the car, by Visa or Mastercard. The price is fixed when you reserve and covers the car, Essential cover, VAT and airport meet and greet. A pick-up before 08:00 or from 20:00 adds a fee of €25.
Who can drive
Drivers must be 21 to 75 and have held a full licence for at least two years. Drivers under 25 pay €7 a day, shown before you reserve. Only drivers named on the agreement are covered.
Deposit
We hold a deposit on a physical card in the main driver's name. On Essential cover it equals the excess on your car, shown before you reserve, and needs a credit card. With Zero Excess Protection it is €300, on a Visa or Mastercard, debit or credit. We release it when the car is returned in its agreed condition, less any agreed charges for missing fuel, a late return or cleaning beyond normal use. Your bank may take up to seven working days to show it.
Cover
Your price includes Essential cover: comprehensive insurance, a collision damage waiver and theft protection, with the excess on your car. You pay for damage or theft up to that excess, and damage to tyres, glass, roof and undercarriage. Zero Excess Protection is optional. It takes the excess to €0 for damage, theft and fire and covers tyres, glass, roof and undercarriage. Cover does not apply to driving under the influence, a driver not named on the agreement, off-road or track use, the wrong fuel, deliberate or reckless damage, or taking the car off the Maltese islands.
Fuel
Return the car with the fuel level recorded at pick-up. Any shortfall is charged at the local pump price plus a €10 refuelling fee.
Cancelling
You can cancel free up to 48 hours before pick-up. Car hire for a specific date is exempt from the 14-day right of withdrawal under Maltese and EU consumer law, so this cancellation rule applies instead.
Fines
Traffic fines are the driver's responsibility. If one reaches us we send you the authority's document and you pay the amount it states, with no handling fee from us.
Replacement cars
If the car breaks down, is stolen or is in an accident, we replace it with one of the same category or higher for the rest of your hire.
Complaints
Contact us first and a named person will reply. You can also go to the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority, or the Consumer Claims Tribunal for claims up to €10,000.
